You will be welcome with us. Leave them behind.
Copper shook his head slightly and took off his goggles. He rubbed his eyes to try and deal with the impending headache. "Stripped nuts!"
With the Scourge offensive, the voices in his head had gotten worse. It seemed Dislissa was actively working for the Lich King. He awoke to her whispering in his ear about heading north. Copper repressed a shudder. He dismissed her immediately after an object lesson and hadn't summoned her since. Luckily Thullos was too...mercurial to betray him and Chardok was Chardok.
He pushed himself back from his desk and refreshed himself. Quickly dressing he opened the door to the main deck and the swaying waters of the South Sea. He quickly scampered aloft to get a look at the surrounding seas. A clear horizon and a starry night sky were all that met his gaze as he carefully scanned the horizon. Why couldn't he get over this feeling of dread?
We will welcome you. All that you desire shall be yours.
"Shut up!" Copper screamed to the night air. This wasn't like him at all. He was normally used to the nagging little voices Dislissa and the Legion whispered in his ear. It was the price he had paid for power. This was different though, he couldn't drown the voices out. The few crew above deck glanced up at their captain before quickly going back to their duties.
Copper slid down the line to the tiller "Theodin, do another speed confirmation. I want to time our arrival at Plunder Isle for tomorrow at dusk." He glances at the Bloodsail colors his ship flew. "If we see another Bloodsail, you know the drill."
Everything you built is for naught. What have you truly gained by continuing to fight?
Copper sighed and closed his eyes before making his way back to the cabin and a restless night of sleep.
"Mom! Please?" Flicker Copperkettle pleaded with his mother. "I want to go to Ironforge and study! I want to be like Erbag!" She smiled to Copper "We will talk about it with your father."
"You have to be kidding?! This is rudimentary. Why won't you teach us more?! Gears and bolts!" Copper was almost yelling at his instructor. "The Scourge have overrun the Capital City. We are betrayed by our own!" He turned and stormed out his class at the Stormwind Academy.
"Be careful Malefious, if you fail in this test, you will die." Copper closed his eyes and concentrated. He would bend the demon to his will. He would do the things his parents couldn't. Gnomes would defeat what others could only contain.
Copper woke in a cold sweat, shivering. Before him floating a glowing sword, inscribed with runes of blood.
If you will not join willingly, you will join by force. Take the sword and serve me. Take the sword or die.
The door to the cabin burst open and two ghouls burst into the room. Copper's hands glowed with eldritch energy as he harnessed the Nether. The cabin exploded in a glow of fire and shadow as Copper destroyed the first ghouls who rushed into his room, but it appeared as if the entire crew was turned. He began to wear out, burning his own life to feed the magic that he used to defend himself. All the while the glowing sword floated just beside him, whispering "Take up the mantle of servitude so that you might take a favored place at my table."
Copper reached out with his hand for the sword and then his world went blank.
He awoke slowly, groggily. His body hurt in places he wasn't even aware of. He seemed to be alive. He opened his eyes fully and winced at the noon day sun beating down on his dehydrated form. The beach was deserted except for a lone Tauren to his left with a sword covered in blood runes held tightly in hand.
