((Ok this is a part of the story as to where Selynnberly has been for a year and a half during the Burning Crusade. It will be long and I hope people enjoy the story.
edit: I'd like to point out something that might seem odd. At this point in Sely's WoW time, she is both a warrior and a priestess. She can wear plate armor and fight with a sword but can't cast her healing spells in it. I know it might seem weird, but this aspect of her was something that came from the RP event "The Fugitive" which is a story on the white tower boards.))
Selynnberly walked over to her desk in her room within the temporary White Tower walls. She took out some parchment and her quill. She didn’t really like what she was about to write but she couldn’t let anyone else come along where she was going. It was too dangerous and something that she needed to do alone. She only hoped that her wisdom and the rest of the Tower would understand. She took a sip of her tea and began writing in a flowing script.
Wisdom Fleureille,
This is a letter of intent that I am taking a leave of absence from my duties in the order. As you know, my parents suffered a terrible fate when I was little while they were trying to protect me. For years I have tried to find a way to free their souls so they may know eternal peace. I believe I have the answers I seek and will be leaving in the morning on a journey to save them. I know the regulations of the White Tower require that I have a Blackward with me on this journey. However, where I’m going I do not want to endanger anyone else to a similar fate. This is something I need to do on my own. May the Goddess Elune always watch over you.
Selynnberly Riverglade Priestess of Elune
She folded up the letter and sealed it with wax, pressing her family signet ring into the hot wax. She set it down and began gathering her things for the journey. She new it was a place in Netherstorm she needed to go in order to cross over to the world of demons but she didn’t know what to expect on the other side. It wouldn’t hurt to prepare for the worst. She packed up plenty of sacred candles, mana and health potions, bandages, some food and water and priestess robes clothes.
She then took out her armor and looked it over. She kept the armor in good condition so it wouldn’t rust. She put the armor on and picked up her sword. She took it out of the sheath and examined it. It was in pristine condition. She closed her eyes and replaced it in the sheath, attaching it to her belt. She picked up her pack and grabbed the note. She walked down the hall and left the note in front of the White Wisdom’s door.
She walked down the halls and out of the door to her faithful frostsaber, Hope. She patted the magnificent animal and hopped on her back. They headed out of Stormwind toward the blasted lands and the dark portal.

Hellfire Peninsula was rather dry and dusty. It was also full of demons from the legion. Selynnberly carefully guided Hope past all the demons making her way to Honor Hold, the Alliance outpost here. Her journey to the darkportal took a couple months and she needed to resupply. She also figured she could help out the injured. Honor Hold usually had some injured people that needed help. Selynnberly stayed in Honor Hold for a few days, tending to wounded and helping those needed. In return, she was given provision for her journey. She thanked the people at the outpost and left headed toward Zangarmarsh.
On the road there, she thought about her journey and what she was about to do. She only knew of two people that ever traveled to the realm of demons and survived to talk about it. She wasn’t even sure that she could perform such a task. Her encounters with the shadow and demonic realm were not good ones. As she crested the hill, she could see the Cenarion Expedition’s outpost in Zangarmarsh.
‘This should be a good place to find more information,’ she thought to herself. She had helped the Cenarion Circle a lot in her time on Azeroth. She had hoped these druids would be able to direct her in the direction of someone that could help her crossover. She had thought about talking to a warlock about it but she wasn’t sure that would be a course of action.
After speaking with a few druids, they pointed her in a southerly direction, toward Shatrath and told her to speak with the Aldor there. It was as good a place to start as any to find what she needed to know to cross over to the Nether. She thanked the druids for the information and hurried on her way south toward Shatrath to speak with the Aldor.

The Night Elf Priestess stood on the stone path above the City of Shatrath in awe. The city was large and magnificent. She wandered down the path and into the city. Looking around, she was amazed at the city and the fact that members of both the horde and alliance co-existed in the city with out fighting each other. It made her curious but she had a mission to complete and need to stay focus. She wasn’t sure where the Aldor were located in the city so she asked one of the guards. He pointed to the west area of the city. “Up top over there is Aldor Rise. That is where you will find them,” he told her.
“Many thanks. May the goddess watch over you,” she replied giving him a blessing of fortitude. She rode on her mount slowly over to the rise. She took the elevator up to the top and took a few steps toward the temple. One of the Dreanei walked over to her.
“Greetings miss and welcome to Aldor Rise. You look like a warrior. How may we be of assistance?”
Selynnberly dismounted and bowed. “Ishnu Alah. I am a Priestess of Elune. I’m looking for someone to help me with something. The druids at the Cenarion Expedition post said the members here would be able to help,” she said.
“It is strange to see a priestess wearing Plate armor and carrying a sword. We would be happy to help you. What is it you need?”
“I have a need to travel into the Nether, the realm of demons. They have taken something from me a long time ago and I want it back. I feel the only way to get it back is to travel to their realm and take it. Can you help?”
The man had a worried look. “You should know being a priestess that is not something you should do. You might not survive the journey.”
Selynnberly nodded. “I understand completely but it’s something that I must do. Can you help me?”
He shook his head. “I cannot. You should go talk with High Priestess Ishanah. She would be able to help you. Be warned, she will more than likely try to persuade you against it. She resides in the temple.”
She curtseyed in respect. “Thank you, sir.” She gently patted Hope and slowly walked up the stairs to the temple. She was greeted by another follower of the Aldor. “Greetings sir, I am looking for High Priestess Ishanah.”
“Right this way, miss.” He led her to a chamber in the temple. “Wait here please. The High Priestess will be with you shortly. Please help yourself to some tea.” He bowed and left. Selynnberly poured herself a cup of tea and waited. She truly hoped that the high priestess could help her. After a few moments the High Priestess entered the room.
“I understand you require assistance, warrior.” She said
Selynnberly smiled. “Yes High Priestess. How ever I am also priestess as well. I follow the guidance of Elune, goddess of my people. I do wear armor and carry a sword but I am a priestess.”
Ishanah nodded in understanding. “I see. It is rare that a priestess would carry a sword and wear plate armor. Usually it is a paladin of the light that dresses like you. So what is it that I can help you with?”
“I have a need to travel into the nether and recover something. Can you help me cross over?”
Ishanah frowned. “I could help you get there, but first I need to understand why you wish to travel there. Based on the reason you wish to go will decide if I teach you how or not.”
Selynnberly nodded, “I can understand that. Allow me to tell you my story and reasons for my journey. Would you like some tea? It will be a long story.” She poured a cup of tea for Ishanah and began reciting the story of her childhood.
She told Ishanah how four demons came to her home when she was little looking to take her away for something. How her father died to protect her. How her father’s and mother’s souls were taken from their bodies by the succubus while her brother carried her away. She spoke of the death of her brother while trying to protect her.
“I hope you can understand now why I wish to travel there. I want to recover the soul shards that contain my parents’ souls so I can set them free and they can rest in peace. Please help me High Priestess. I know where I must go but I need to know how to get there.”
Ishanah thought for a minute, finishing her tea. “I can see your cause is noble and no matter what I say, I doubt you would be swayed from your task. I will teach you how but it will only work to send you there and back one time. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you this but the longer you stay there the harder it will be to return. It will take some time; I suggest you prepare your spirit.”
Selynnberly nodded and asked to change out of her armor and into her priestess vestments in order to meditate. Ishanah led her to a room. “You can stay here, priestess. I will speak with you later.”

Selynnberly trained with the high priestess for a few days, learning the things she needed to know to cross over to the nether realm. Ishanah saw that her progress went fast and had completed sooner than expected. “You have talent, young priestess. I believe you are ready for your journey. You have strong willpower and ample faith in yourself. Those are things you will need in order to survive. While in the nether, you need to remember these things and trust in yourself, else you may be lost to there forever.” Selynnberly curtseyed respectfully. “Thank you for all your assistance, High Priestess. I am eternally in your debt.” “It is my pleasure to be of assistance. Please remember all that I taught you, priestess. Also please take this.” Ishanah handed Selynnberly a dreanei charm. “This should help protect you while you are there, but it’s limited. It’s the last bit of help I can offer you.” Selynnberly accepted the gift. “I’ll remember to return this to you when I accomplish my task. May the goddess always watch over you, High Priestess.” “Go with the blessing of the Naruu and come back safely.” Selynnberly left the temple of the Aldor and headed over to the flight master. Normally she would enjoy the company of her mount and companion but she didn’t want to leave her frostsaber in the middle of Netherstorm. She spoke with the flight master briefly and handed him a few gold for a bird to Area 52. ***** Upon arrival, she headed out to the ruins to the east of the goblin city, the place where demons roamed. She was looking for a powerful leader. She needed to obtain a piece of him in order to complete the link to their world. She found one there, drawing her sword, and slaughtered him. She took a piece of the armor the demon wore and headed off northward toward the area that was a strong demonic focal point. It was there she would perform the ritual to cross over. Having finally reached her destination, Selynnberly set her things down and scouted the area. Performing the ritual would be dangerous and leave her a vulnerable to attack, especially if she caught the attention of any hostile members of the horde in the area, or worse demons. After about 15 minutes, she was satisfied there wouldn’t be any threats for the duration of the ritual and that she could cross over safely.
She took out a vial of green liquid and the object she collected earlier. Then she began to draw a small circle in the dirt, just big enough to sit. Once finished, she grabbed her backpack and sat down to concentrate. The green liquid started to glow faintly as she began to chant. She started to feel slightly sick in her stomach as the energy began to swirl around her. Even the runecloth pendant, a powerful amulet gifted to her by a troll, began to glow. In her mind, she could see the realm of the twisting nether. She wanted to stop but something inside her urged her to finish the ritual. The light grew brighter and the nether became more visible. Then everything in Netherstorm was gone, the light disappeared and all that surrounded Selynnberly was the dark clouds of shadow.
She felt the taint of the shadow seeping into her. The last time she felt this was when she was possessed for a brief moment of time. She looked around and was surprised to see that all of her things had come with her, all but her armor. In fact she was completely naked. Slightly embarrassed, she took out a set of robes and dressed. While no one would have seen her anyway due to the very dark, cloudy atmosphere but she felt much better having some clothes on. Now her search would begin for find the demon responsible for her parents’ death. She only hoped that her parents’ souls had not been consumed.
