Alright, I'm finding myself running into a problem. I was walking around last night at the 'event' though I was late, but I'd completely forgotten about it being there that night. I wanted to 'observe' if you will a few first, but now I'm having an altogether different problem.
I was on my priest, who because of his past is NOT trusting of new people and does not go out of his way to introduce himself or interact with people he doesn't know. I walked around for a bit trying to figure out how to slip in somehow that wouldn't be completely out of his character, and ended up not figuring out a way to. You all seemed so...so...uh...loud and fun and playing around and while my priest might be curious about such behavior he would rather observe than interact. I was 'late' so the RP was in full swing with several people acting in ways that would make my priest uncomfortable. So I just gave up. I suppose I could've pm'd someone and explained but I was rather tired anyway. And I feel kind of funny just sitting nearby to watch you all...lol.
I'm realizing a lot of my characters are like that. I only have two or three out of eighteen that have an outgoing personality and would jump right into playing around with new people. I really only have ONE that runs up to new people and introduces himself and acts all fun and crazy. I suppose I 'could' always take him but I'm not like that in real life so while it's fun to play that way once in a while when a character calls for it, it's not my preferred character.
My guild is full of assassins, people with dark pasts, such things. They're not the most trusting bunch ever, so I'm finding it a bit hard to stay true to character and interact with others. Not that all of them would avoid any contact at all but most are too serious to be crazy like I saw at the event that most people were doing. It looked fun but my characters just aren't 'fun' like that I guess. Of course they could be eventually but it's the initial interaction that's giving me fits. For instance my guild master, Fulbright, is a shady mistrusting rogue but he likes to have wicked fun with people he knows once he knows them.
Also, while I'm at it... I'm almost always in the RPA chat. However I have no idea what to say when I am. Again could be due to the above problems, or could just be that I'm not used to RPing in a chat/over distance type form. I've tried a few times (Bullocke is usually the one I try with, or Medianoche or Frosthoof), but beyond a hello how's it going the conversation usually dies out because I can't think of anything to keep it going. And it's usually only going at all if Merlinne is on it lol. I've tried a few times to say hello like you do Merlinne to everyone who logs in but most times I don't get a response or they log out of the channel.
I'm not sure of the 'rules' as far as talking about quests, or repeatable runs through instances (which is what I'm normally doing). I've tried a few times to come up with stories about why I'm running several times through somewhere (for instance when I was trying to get my warrior his book from DM I said we just couldn't find it). Ok now I'm rambling.
And as a side note, if anyone needs any help horde side with anything...my guild is 'for hire' so to speak like uh..someone posted they were for leveling (can't find the post now sorry whoever you were!). That was why I created my guild a few months ago, it's a guild of mercenaries that hire themselves out for odd jobs (instance runs, help with quests..other things that might come up). I'm having trouble getting it off the ground though. I run instances a LOT because I have like 14 characters I need to get to 70 all at various levels and that's what I mostly do, I run instances because let's face it questing can get a bit boring after the third or fourth one doing the same quests if you're doing it solo.
So..yeah just posting for some ideas or some such. Or just to ramble to people who understand for a change.
Yes, I'm probably worrying too much and I should just be more spontaneous, but when your mind is blank and all you can think of is running naked into the pool to get attention and you know your character would rather die first..
